Chase issues credit cards for each of the largest 3 IAG Avios loyalty programs: British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, and Aer Lingus AerClub. These are separate products, and it’s possible to have more than one of these at the same time.
Their British Airways card was the very first 100,000 point bonus offer I’d ever seen. All 3 have offers to earn up to 100,000 Avios. The last offer ended June 30th, and they’ve refreshed with 3 new offers.
Earning the full initial bonus requires more spend, but stretching your spend to earn a British Airways Visa Signature® Card ‘Travel Together’ ticket to either get 50% off the points required for an individual traveler redemption or 100% off of points required for a companion can make sense anyway.
Here are the new offers for each of the (3) cards:
- British Airways Visa Signature® Card has an initial bonus offer to earn up to 100,000 Avios. Earn 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening and earn an additional 25,000 Avios after you spend $20,000 in the first 12 months of account opening.
Every calendar year you make $30,000 in purchases on your British Airways Visa card, you’ll earn a Travel Together Ticket good for two years (which can now be used for 50% off a solo traveler’s Avios required for an award if you prefer that over 100% off of a companion).
Cardholders receive a 10% off British Airways flights starting in the US when you book through the website provided in your welcome materials.
- Aer Lingus Visa Signature® Card has an offer to earn up to 100,000 Avios. Earn 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening and earn an additional 25,000 Avios after you spend $20,000 in the first 12 months of account opening.
You and any authorized users on your account are eligible for Priority Boarding on Aer Lingus flights departing from and returning to the US from Ireland, subject to availability. Every calendar year you make purchases of $30,000 on your Aer Lingus Visa Signature Card, you’ll receive a Commercial Companion Ticket good for 12 months.
- Iberia Visa Signature® Card has an offer to earn up to 100,000 Avios. Earn 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening and earn an additional 25,000 Avios after you spend $20,000 in the first 12 months of account opening.
A unique benefit you can save 10% on Iberia flights purchased on iberia.com/Chase10. You can also earn a discount voucher of $1,000 to use toward two tickets on the same flight for each year you make purchases of $30,000 on your card.
It’s great to see these continue to have 100,000 Avios initial bonus opportunities, even with a significant spend requirement for the last tranche of 25,000. Of course Chase’s ‘5/24’ rule applies, so you aren’t likely to get approved if you’ve had 5 or more new qualifying cards within the last 24 months.
