I’ve found over the years that the CardMatch tool can be great for identifying targeted, non-public American Express initial bonus offers you may be eligible for. In my personal observation these offers have seemed most available for those without existing American Express accounts.
However I haven’t seen specific great offers lately – until just now. Sean Cudahy reports a great offer through the site for the Platinum Card® from American Express.
I was targeted through CardMatch for a 150,000-point bonus, after spending $6,000 on the card in the first six months of card membership.
The Platinum Card® from American Express has a standard offer to earn 100,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $6,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership.
The card is clearly worth getting on the basis of that normal offer alone, but you should check CardMatch to see if you’re eligible for the (much) bigger offer.
I have and keep my card and consider it worth the annual fee (See rates and fees) based on up to a $200 annual Uber credit; up to $200 annual airline fee credit (Southwest has been my airline of choice for this, enrollment required); up to $100 annual Saks credit (enrollment required, up to $50 semi-annually); and lounge access (Centurion, Delta, Priority Pass which cardmembers need to request, Plaza Premium) and Hilton and Marriott Gold statuses, which you can register for. Plus there’s a slate of new additional benefits.
