Save 54% On Award Alerts, 20% Bonus On Aeroplan Transfers, And New Amtrak Card [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • Thrifty Traveler is an excellent airfare and award alert service. It comes at a $59 price per year for their annual plan but many readers find it worthwhile. I’ve shared several award availability alerts from their service in the past few months.

On November 3 they’re creating a new premium tier at $130 per year, but signing up now gets you grandfathered in at current pricing for life. So if you’re considering joining, do so now. (I do not receive any referral credit for this, just flagging for those interested.)

They promise “even more award alerts…as discounted first and business class fares – plus the cheap domestic and international alerts, mistake fares” and all current $59 members will get this without the price increase.

  • Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways wants to join a global alliance Vietnam Airlines is already in SkyTeam…

  • FNBO-issued Amtrak card is now available BofA no longer issues the card, the refresh isn’t exciting, but will make sense for some of you in the Northeast.

  • Amsterdam airport has been such a mess that their $1250 queue-jumping VIP service had too much demand and they’ve had to stop taking reservations for it.

  • Air Canada Aeroplan is offering a 20% bonus on points transferred into the program from hotel chains other than Marriott through November 13. Of course Marriott is the program where transfers to an airline make the most sense! Hotel programs included in the offer: Accor; Best Western; Choice; Coast; Hilton; IHG; Radisson (America); Shangri-La; Wyndham.
