News and notes from around the interweb:
- Southwest flight attendant: if those were designer bags under your seat, you wouldn’t be flying Southwest
@divine_sorrow916 If you ever get this guy on your flight show him some love 👏🏾👏🏾 by far one of the best flight attendant / flight crew I’ve ever met wn241 . He deserves a raise @Southwest Airlines. #fyp #southwestairlines #denvertoraleigh #weekendvibes ♬ original sound – Itsjustmedonna
- This is going to be a problem for a certain famous 86 year old crewmember, the longest-serving flight attendant who still flies for American Airlines, provided she’s held to the same standard.
I have a feeling it will be the end of the road for some extremely senior FAs if they need to get 777/787 trained.

- United Airlines Says They’re Becoming The U.S. “Flag Carrier.” A flag carrier was historically state-owned, a national carrier, or at least privileged by a national government. Considering the years United spent arguing against the role of the state with Gulf carriers, it seems a little odd to invoke the terminology. Although considering their partnership with Emirates now, not so odd. And United has been the airline flying to the most international destinations. They’ll have a lot of planes to keep doing so, of course many will wind up replacing current aircraft in their fleet.
Will be interesting to see if @AmericanAir or @Delta complain to the @FTC (or even @USDOT @SecretaryPete) about this claim from @united. Would @USGSA who administers government contracts with the City Pair Program be concerned? https://t.co/DIC3QN4hOo pic.twitter.com/sbA0Qw73CY
